At the Institute of Electromechanical Design at TU Darmstadt smart protection goggles were developed to increase the safety at workplaces where the use of goggles is mandatory. The goggles detect when they are properly worn and send this information to a wireless receiver. This signal is used for different applications, for example to toggle a warning light thus alarming the user. A compact structure of the required electronics allows attaching the developed concept for any goggle. For demonstration purposes the developed technology has been attached to a commercially available protection goggles by Uvex.
